City of Waite Park News:

1. Your dog or your cat needs to be licensed by the City of Waite Park. The cost is $10 and you can obtain your license at the Waite Park City Office. You must be able to show your pet has been vaccinated for rabies. 

2. NO PARKING is allowed between the hours of 2 am and 7 am on any city street from November 1st until April 1st.

3. Property owners are required to clear sidewalks of snow and ice by noon each day. Do not blow snow into the street.

4. Christmas tree pickup will be the week of January 11-15 in 2021. Please remove all hook, ornaments, lights and tinsel before placing your tree on the curb on Monday.

5. Veterans Day, November 11th, Thanksgiving, November 26th, Christmas Eve Day, December 24th, Christmas Day, December 25th and New Years Day, January 1st are the observed holidays when City offices will be closed.

6. The Waite Park Police Department has a drop box available for unwanted medications. There is no need to remove pills from the container or remove labels. They will be disposed of properly without endangering the environment.

Notes from the President:

ANNUAL BOARD MEETING:  The WCHA Annual Board Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 22nd at the American Legion Meeting Room (17 2nd Ave. N) in Waite Park. Because of the continuing problem with COVID-19, the Board has decided that our successful Kentucky Fried Chicken Dinner Meeting at the Waite Park Community Pavilion last year wouldn’t be appropriate this year. We were too crowded and too close to repeat that scenario during the current pandemic. 

For those of you interested in eating at the American Legion before the meeting, the Legion has offered a burger basket for $8. It would include burger & fries with the fixings (lettuce, tomato, pickles & onions). The meal would be available at 5 p.m. If you’re interested, you should let your Phase Representative know by October 15th. Those phone numbers are listed above. The Legion will need a sufficient number in order to accommodate us. Because of that, we won’t be collecting money ahead of time. FYI - The Legion will also be hosting BINGO that night, so it’ll be busy.

Please Wear Face Masks at the meeting and try to practice social distancing as best possible.  We will offer coffee and cookies at the meeting.

Election of Board Members: The following offices are up for election at the meeting on October 22nd: President, Secretary and Phase 2 Representative. The current officers are Joan A. Allen, President, Mary Schill and Mary Schwinghammer, Secretary and Virginia VanderWeyst, Phase 2 Representative. If you are interested in serving on the board, please let your Phase Representative know. The election will take place during the Annual Meeting as part of the formal agenda.

Welcome!  We have new neighbors in Phase 2!  Ronald & Carol Lyback moved into 954 Willow View Circle. We welcome them to our community!

Notes from the Groundskeeper!  Sadly, summer is almost over. Looking to the  future, the Board has signed a 3-year contract with Ehlinger Lawn Services, Inc. to provide lawn care and snow removal. Ehlinger will also be offering the service currently provided by Valley Green to spray rocked areas around homes preventing weeds from growing. While Valley Green charged $52.50 per application, Ehlinger will charge $42.50. The contract will be for 2 applications with the ability to add a 3rd if you wish. This will begin next year. Mr. Ehlinger will be on hand to answer questions at the Annual Meeting. 

Notes from the Secretary:  We’ve recently had people question the accuracy of our current By-Laws, Declaration & Summary, and Rules & Regulations. The Board has decided that we need to clarify and perhaps simplify our official documents so that everyone can understand our governing documents. Starting after the 1st of the year, we will form a committee to work on this project. Mary Schill, Secretary, will be in charge. If you’re interested in working on the committee, please contact her. The Board will approve the final draft once the committee has completed their work. We hope to be able to provide an online version which members may print out after updates are made or if they happen to lose their print copy.

June 2020 Announcements

June 17th - There will be no mowing today because of the excessive temperatures expected. 

June 18th - Don't forget the City of Waite Park's Large Pick-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, July 11th. The same rules apply. Consult your last City Newsletter if you need more information.

June 24th - If you have an issue with your garbage pick-up or your recycle pick-up, please contact West Central (the City's Garbage Contractor) for assistance. Phone 1-800-246-7630.

June 24th - If your property abuts the Bethlehem Lutheran Church's property and you have an issue with them, please contact Mr. Gary Sneide, Chair Property Committee, Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

June 27th - The 3 o'clock WCHA meeting on July 14th will be held at the Waite Park American Legion instead of the treasurer's home. Please wear a mask if you decide to come to the meeting. Also, please let your Phase Rep know if you plan to attend.

Board Meetings: Above are the dates for WCHA Board Meetings for 2020. Because the Coronavirus Epidemic requires social distancing, we’re trying to keep our meeting times brief without requiring you to be present. We’ll continue to operate using these guidelines until it’s safe to meet in public again. Please contact your Phase Rep and have her represent your concern at the next meeting. Thank you.

Welcome!  We have new neighbors! 

Phase 1: Rolland and Rene Krueger are now at home at 936 Willow Grove Circle. Lisa Bowland has found the perfect spot at 922 Willow Grove Circle. 

Phase 2: Richard Fruth moved to 904 Willow View Circle after retiring from road construction/heavy equipment. He used to spend time at the cabin fishing and boating. Now, he just tries to get some walking in each day. Carol Gruba has moved into 945 Willow View Circle. She works for UBS Financial Services, Inc. She likes to spend time with her family, her grandchildren. She likes traveling, knitting, hiking and decorating cakes. 

Phase 3: Henry Barksdale, is now at home at 75 Willow Creek Drive. Karen Zabinski has found her way to 42 Willow Creek Drive and is making herself at home there.

Sad Good-Byes: We were all very sad to learn that Jerry Larson passed away on March 13, 2020. Jerry lived at 977 Willow View Circle with his wife Jan. He said he moved to Willow Creek during the fall of 1997 on the recommendation of neighbor Cathy Weldon. “We never regretted the move as one of the first owners in Phase 2.” Jerry’s friendly and helpful nature will be missed by all his friends and neighbors. We extend our sincere condolences to Jan and the family.

We also wish to acknowledge the passing of Peter L. Terrahe of 920 Willow View Circle who passed away on December 8, 2019. Our sincere condolences go out to his wife Nona and their family. Peter and Nona were married for 58 years and they were a happy couple who celebrated life with friends and family.

In order to access the blog, you need an internet connection or data access through your smart phone. You must type in the URL in order to reach the blog at https://willowcreekhomeowners.blogspot.com. 

The blog is limited to our WCHA community and can only be accessed by typing in the address above. You might bookmark it on your computer or phone so you don’t have to type in the address each time. If you do so, please remember to “refresh” your screen to make sure you’ve open the most recent news. 

Mainly it will concentrate on lawn-care issues and WCHA Board issues. But other community announcements might be featured like Phase lunches or yard sales. We hope to forward important information to you in a timely fashion. We realize that many of you do not use the Internet and you’ll still be able to rely on your Phase Reps and our quarterly newsletters.  

Notes from the Groundskeeper! Summer is on the way. The lawns are green, flowers are blooming and it’s great to be outside! I’m going to discuss a few things we all need to do to keep our neighborhoods looking great. 

1. Remember that it’s your responsibility to keep the weeds from growing in the rocks and mulch areas around your home. I know it’s a lot of work keeping up with the wily weeds, but it’s necessary. Remember that you can still call Valley Green (320-259-5959) and they’ll do it for you. Let them know that you live in Willow Creek (WCHA) and you’ll get the discounted rate of $52.50 + tax per application. The contract is for 2 applications and a 3rd if you wish to add another treatment. They’ll send you a contract. You pay for it and your weeds will be gone for the summer!

2. As I was walking through the neighborhoods, I noticed many low hanging branches on trees. The company that does our mowing has stand behind mowers—so those low branches are a danger. Please trim the branches 6 feet off the ground so workers can mow without having to bend down to get under your tree’s branches. Also I noticed that the landscaping around numerous trees needed to be redone. As the trees grow and expand, the roots push the edging and the rocks out of the ground. I know it’s hard work which is why I hired a company to re-do the landscaping around my trees. It looks 100% better!

3. About the sprinklers—this is an easy one for all of us. If you have a sprinkler head that isn’t working, let your Phase Rep know. If you notice a large section of grass that’s turning brown or if you’re awakened at night because water is hitting your house, let your Phase Rep know. We’ll make sure it gets fixed.

If you have any concerns or questions about your lawn or any landscaping issues, be sure to let your Phase Rep know.  In the meantime, have a great summer and let’s keep our neighborhoods looking beautiful.
